Inge Hartwell - Romance Writer -
welcome
You've come to the right place for heartwarming, contemporary romance, with undeniable chemistry, heat, and guaranteed happily ever afters. My stories follow women re-inventing themselves; carving out new chapters in life and love. My characters are generally in their late twenties, thirties or older. Not much re-invention can happen before that ;)
Meet Meg and Scott in 'Halfway Home'. If you love forced proximity, summer vibes, steamy scenes, with banter and plenty of swoon, you are in the right place! Halfway Home is an easy read set in Wellington, the coolest little capital in the world (and my home), and in London. It is available on Amazon e-book and paperback, and free on Kindle Unlimited. Read more below!
I am currently working on Halfway There, the prequel to Halfway Home, and because I haven't got enough to do... I am also editing my historical romance set in 1590s Egypt, and running Elevated Living for women seeking calmer lives and living environments.
about the Author
I was born in the Netherlands and moved to New Zealand when I was ten—both places, and the people there, tug at my heart. I live in Wellington, where bush, city, and sea collide. It’s where I met my husband, raised my boys, and built the life I love. When I’m not working my day job as a Communications Advisor, you’ll find me reading and writing romance, walking, making art, hanging out with my husband and our younger son (the eldest is at university), catching up with friends, running Elevated Living, and doing life stuff.
Halfway Home

He’s a retired rugby star who swore he wouldn't stay. One villa. One bed. One spark they didn't see coming. Everyone has left, and Meg is choosing for herself. She’s still in her thirties, her daughter has gone to university, her parents are gone, and for the first time, her future is wide open. So, she quits her job, buys a crumbling seaside villa in, and throws herself into renovating the life she is going to make for herself, starting with a café at her front gate. Love? Not on the menu! Meg has had enough of people who leave. Enter Scott Reid. Former captain of the Scottish rugby team. Charismatic. Annoyingly attractive, and only in the country for a few weeks. He’s dropping his daughter at uni, playing one last game, and then he’s off to chase his next adventure. Settling down is definitely not part of the plan. But unexpected shared quarters, one bed, and an undeniable spark have Meg and Scott facing old heartbreaks and fears they’ve carried far too long. With a chemistry they can’t ignore… is the greatest risk walking away? Cry and laugh your way through Halfway Home, a fresh contemporary, romantic escape with new beginnings, unexpected love and a happy ever after.

- Heart racing, fiery romance intertwined with a heartwarming story of endurance. I loved reading this book. The characters felt so real and could easily have been friends or family. Hearing my current hometown (coolest little city) described by an excellent word smith, has warmed my heart even more. Highly recommended!Marisa V
- Such a great lighthearted romance! But boy once they crossed the line it was heart and heat for sure! Goes to show ya romance isn’t dead. Once the kiddos fly the coup there is a life of romance left out there.Bekah R
